Councillor Malcolm Leaning
| |
- Served continuously on Nettleham Parish Council for 45 years.
- District Councillor for the Nettleham ward since 1981 for 25 of the past 30 years.
- Over the years he has served on committees dealing with all aspects of the District Councils work.
- Previous Chairman and Vice-Chairman of West Lindsey District Council.
- Previously Chair of Planning for 5 years (and Vice-Chair for 2 years).
- He has been Chairman of the Councils Policy and Resources committee.
- Previous service as a Nettleham School Governor for 29 years. His father, himself, his Daughters and his Grandson all attended the School.
- Founder member, and served for first 10 years, on Nettleham Village Hall Committee.
- Member for more than 50 years of Nettleham Gardeners Club.
- Born in the village in January 1939 and has always lived in Nettleham firstly on Sudbrooke Lane and now Highfields.
- Previously an Electrician and now retired.
- Member of the Nettleham based RB Camera Club.
His wide experience of Parish and District Council’s work would allow him, if re-elected, to continue to represent the interests of all the Nettleham Ward (which includes Greetwell, Riseholme and Grange-de Lings).
Although long serving and with a great deal of experience, Malcolm is still keen to attend training sessions to ensure that he is absolutely up-to-date with the latest legislation. As an example he has attended four 4 day courses of the Town and Country Planning Association in recent years.
Malcolm continues to fight vigorously for the benefit of all the communities in the Ward & their residents. Each community has its own identity, Malcolm believes, which need protecting from any proposals that might on balance, cause damage.
Having been born and resident all his life in the village, and with his children having attended the local school as he did, he feels that he can understand
and represent your views not only as an occupant of a ‘new’ estate but also as a long term resident.
Local Taxation
Did you think the old Rating system was a fair way to collect a local tax?
- Did you think the ‘Poll Tax’ was fair?
- Do you think the present Tax, based on which ‘Band’ your home is put, is fair?
- Or do you, like the Liberal Democrats, feel that there should be some recognition of people’s ability to pay by collecting it via a local income tax?
This year West Lindsey D.C. have received £2.6 million less in their Rate Support Grant - to supposedly do the same work!
